Ce recueil rassemble les travaux du réseau Open AIR, qui compte des chercheurs dans plus de 20 pays africains, au Canada et ailleurs. Les centres institutionnels d'Open AIR sont situés à l'Université d'Ottawa (au Centre de droit, technologie et société), à l'Université américaine du Caire, à l'Institut nigérian d'études juridiques avancées, à l'Université Strathmore de Nairobi, à l'Université du Cap et à l'Université de Johannesburg.

Les recherches du réseau s'articulent autour de deux axes principaux : d'une part, la mesure dans laquelle les approches collaboratives ouvertes de l'innovation peuvent aider les entreprises africaines du savoir à se développer et à saisir les opportunités offertes par l'économie du savoir ; d'autre part, la mesure dans laquelle certains cadres de gouvernance des connaissances peuvent favoriser un partage inclusif des retombées socio-économiques générées par les innovateurs africains.

This collection contains outputs from the work of the Open AIR network, which has researchers in more than 20 African countries, in Canada, and beyond. Open AIR's institutional hubs are at the University of Ottawa (in the Centre for Law, Technology and Society), The American University in Cairo, the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, Strathmore University in Nairobi, the University of Cape Town, and the University of Johannesburg.

The network’s research is anchored in two core dimensions: the extent to which open collaborative approaches to innovation can help African knowledge-based enterprises to scale up and seize opportunities in the knowledge economy; and the extent to which certain knowledge governance frameworks can increase the potential for inclusive sharing of the social and economic benefits generated by African innovators.
