Radical Forgiveness: The Dynamics of Forgiveness after Culpable Wrongdoing of Intolerable Harm

Abstract

This thesis explores the dynamics of radical forgiveness after culpable wrongdoing of intolerable harm. It begins by exploring forgiveness in general outlining many understandings of the term. It then pursues radical forgiveness to develop a deeper understanding of the phenomenon. Wartime rape is used as the context in which radical forgiveness in explored. In the final chapter, this thesis argues that there exists a disconnect between the trauma suffered by women worldwide and the recourses available to them in order to recover. Even an internal process, such as radical forgiveness, remains inadequate to address the suffering of women.
