dc.description.abstract	This thesis is a study of cell complexes, of the conditions C and W of Whitehead and of CW-complexes. The topological properties of these spaces are considered in some detail and their relevance in algebraic topology examined. Finally the category of CW-complexes is compared to the category of compactly generated spaces (k-spaces) in the spirit of the conditions suggested by Steenrod in "A convenient category of topological spaces".
