Abstract
The parallels between open education and knowledge mobilization are striking. Both are umbrella concepts that encompass diverse practices aimed at breaking down traditional academic silos and amplifying the reach and impact of knowledge. At their core, they share a commitment to collaboration, co-creation, and dissemination beyond conventional scholarly channels. Using the University of Ottawa as an example, this lightning talk highlights the connections between OER creation and knowledge mobilization, and suggests strategies to frame this message to academic researchers and administrators. By connecting the dots between open education and knowledge mobilization, this brief presentation aims to inspire OER advocates to work with their institution’s research and innovation office to make OER production a valuable opportunity and a recognized activity in research-intensive universities.
