The starting point for this study was an empirical analysis of two large international databases: the 1990 World Values Survey and the 1995 International Social Survey (which focused on national pride). Over the 1980s and 1990s, Canadians have consistently reported a high level of pride in their country. We wished to probe beneath the surface of these findings to determine the source of this pride.en_US
