In this thesis we review the fundamental concepts of wavelets and wireless cellular communication (chapters 2 & 3 respectively). We then explore the details of how wavelets can be used to multiplex users in a communication channel. Much of our exploration is devoted to gain insight into how this technique compares to existing multiple access schemes (chapter 4). A qualitative analysis of how wavelets support a multi-user scheme is provided (chapter 5). Performance issues related to the specific application of wavelets in a cellular communication environment are simulated, discussed, and compared with other multi-users schemes. In this thesis we show how wavelets could potentially support a multi-user scheme that can provide a flexible transceiver structure of high capacity.
