Abstract

Grassland areas in East Africa continue provide habitat for some of the largest herds of grazers on the planet. Zebra and wildebeest are often found grazing together in these areas. Ngorongoro Crater is the largest inactive volcanic caldera in the world and is part of the broader Serengeti ecosystem. Wildebeest and zebra populations here are mostly resident, unlike the vast and migratory herds for which the Serengeti is famous.
