Towards 2036 Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Care Systems: Health Leadership Imperatives in Canada

Abstract

Traumatic brain injuries pose significant long-term population health challenges in the face of growing pressures and competition for scarce resources. The sustainability of current fragmented care systems to reduce mortality and morbidity rates, risks and incalculable human suffering from neuro-traumatic events will be increasingly open to challenge. This paper explores the implications for future systemic sustainability of TBI care through regionalization, intelligence systems, virtual environments and transformational leadership to the year 2036.
