The paper is an empirical study on the relationship between economic growth and pollution, using the data from the province of Sichuan, China. Three pollutants – industrial wastewater, industrial solid wastes, and industrial gas waste – are considered. The results – obtained from the Johansen co-integration test and the Granger causality test – indicate that both industrial wastewater and industrial solid waste have a negative impact on economic growth, but not industrial gas waste.en
