Survivability in all-optical networks is an imperative requirement. There are two types of restoration techniques: link restoration and path restoration. Although link restoration is advantageous in terms of restoration speed and network load balancing, it requires to be preceded by an efficient fault localization procedure. This explains the importance of fault localization in all-optical networks. Limited-perimeter Vector Matching (LVM) Fault localization Protocol was designed to be fast and efficient. This thesis presents the emulation process for LVM Protocol. The emulation process consists of an all-optical network monitoring multi-layer software implementing the LVM protocol, we called it LVM Explorer. LVM Explorer provides a GUI 88 the presentation layer. The protocol is launched by switch services mapping the physical switches. The switch services are running in parallel 88 distributed processes. The main merit of the LVM Explorer is that it handles fault localization outside the physical network which is called only for alarms.
