dc.description.abstract	The preparation of various hydrazones for use in radical cyclizations is described. The radical cyclization of (A) and (B) under various radical conditions led to the tandem cyclization of octahydroindoles (C) and (D) under neutral conditions. The reaction of (E) under various radical conditions led to the first synthesis of a seven membered ring by attack of a carbon radical onto a carbon-nitrogen multiple bond, forming (F).* ftn*Please refer to the dissertation for diagrams.
