The goal is to explore the effects of metal coordination geometry on single molecule-magnets (SMM) through peripheral ligand modification with the bis(imino)pyridine ligand. Chapter 1 presents fundamental concepts that are used in the molecular magnetism and single molecule magnets. Chapter 2 describes a history and synthesis of the bis(imino)pyridine ligand. Chapter 3 discusses the synthesis of Cobalt (II) bis(imino)pyridine complexes with varied sterics, their characterization, structural analysis and magnetic properties. Chapter 4 presents the synthesis of Iron (II) bis(imino)pyridine complexes with varied sterics, their characterization, structural analysis and magnetic properties. Chapter 5 provides a summary of the work presented in this thesis.enInvestigating the Modulation of Monometallic Single-Molecule Magnets Through Peripheral Ligand ModificationsThesis
